Tom, Thank you so much for this write up and all the references! I can bring this to our CJK librarians and have an intelligent discussion on which problems to tackle first and what to try. I'm hoping I can focus some coding effort on a solr index testing gem for the community that will make it easier to write tests for search result relevancy. The goal is to make it simpler to a) write tests for queries -> solr search results and b) experiment with different solr configurations (field analysis, boosting, etc.). - Naomi
