March 23, 2022 - Improved feature: More data included in personal collection metadata downloads

Date: March 23, 2022

Impact of update: Anyone who downloads metadata from personal collections

We have expanded the metadata fields available for download from personal collections.

Individuals who wish to analyze a collection outside of the HathiTrust interface can download a tab-separated values (TSV) file or JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) that contains information about the volumes in the collection. Previously, these files contained a simple set of 10 fields. Now, a more comprehensive set of 26 fields provides bibliographic and administrative metadata.

The updated Collection Builder metadata files contain the same set of fields available in the hathifiles metadata schema. Two fields have been included at the end of each row that include the catalog url and item url.

This change should increase the utitility of these files for those who need to do collection analysis, such as librarians or scholars. Contact us at support@hathitrust.org with comments or questions.
