HathiTrust is Hiring: Digital Scholarship Librarian
HathiTrust is seeking a Digital Scholarship Librarian/HathiTrust Research Center Associate Director of Outreach and Education, who will work with both HathiTrust central staff at University of Michigan and HathiTrust Research Center staff located at Indiana University and the University of Illinois. The Digital Scholarship Librarian will engage with faculty, academic staff, and students on scholarly computational uses of the HathiTrust collection and identify opportunities to improve the seamless provision of HathiTrust services across the entire enterprise.

Emergency Temporary Access Service: 2022 Update
Since December, we have received requests from some members to re-activate the Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS) in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2. There are now 15 member libraries again using the service. We continue to receive requests and members are welcome to submit a request to feedback@issues.hathitrust.org at any time to initiate an assessment of your plans.
As a reminder, HathiTrust can make available ETAS when a library experiences an unexpected or involuntary disruption to normal operations, requiring it to be closed to the public, or to otherwise restrict collection access services, so that users cannot gain access to items in the print collection as they ordinarily would. We are generally able to quickly activate or re-activate this service. We expect to reach out soon to libraries now using ETAS to reassess conditions.

Many HathiTrust member libraries have created LibGuides and other instructional resources to help their patrons successfully use the HathiTrust Digital Library for teaching, learning, and research. While we strive to feature member resources with current information, some may be outdated and serve primarily to inspire you to create your own HathiTrust resource. From the Collection: NEW Public Domain Titles
Title: The Weary Blues
Author: Hughes, Langston, 1902-1967.
Published: New York, A. A. Knopf, 1926. Contributed by University of Michigan (HathiTrust member since 2008).
In January, titles published in 1926 entered the public domain in the United States, including more than 50,000 items in the HathiTrust collection.
Some of these are also viewable globally. Global readers have also gained open access to 40,000+ titles published in 1896, and up through 1901 if published in Canada or Australia.

Thanks to contributions from member libraries and ongoing work by the HathiTrust Copyright Review Program, HathiTrust will continue to open public domain items even beyond 1926, and to preserve these items for access long into the future.
