Welcoming New Members to HathiTrust
We are pleased to announce that Kent State University has joined the HathiTrust member community. See the full membership list on our website.
Digital Collection Strategy Working Group Survey
The HathiTrust Digital Collection Strategy Working Group (DCSWG) recently issued a survey to inform the next stage of its work. Answers to the 10-question survey will assist the working group in identifying areas where additional communications to the members about HTDL content or processes would be helpful. Responses will also provide key information on which services, supports, or programs individuals at HathiTrust member libraries believe would most significantly advance the work of bringing greater diversity to the HathiTrust Digital Library.
Many individuals working in the area of collections have received a copy of the survey, and the group is hoping to expand the number of respondents. If you or a colleague is in a Collections role within your library but did not receive a survey and would like to, please contact feedback@issues.hathitrust.org. The survey will be open through early May.
The DCSWG is one of several member-led groups charged by the Program Steering Committee (PSC) to take action on our Strategic Directions by focusing on metadata, the collections, and outreach. See a complete list of the PSC groups and their charges.
NEW: Expanded Metadata Downloads in Collection Builder
HathiTrust has expanded the metadata fields available for download to support more extensive collection analysis. Users of our Personal Collections can download a tab-separated values (TSV) file or JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) that contains information about the volumes in the collection. Previously, these files contained a simple set of 10 fields. Now, a more comprehensive set of 26 fields provides bibliographic and administrative metadata. The updated Collection Builder metadata files contain the same set of fields available in the hathifiles metadata schema. Two fields have been included at the end of each row that include the catalog url and item url. To learn more about Collection Builder, check out this short YouTube video, How to Create a Collection, and related web documentation.

Save the Date! HathiTrust Community Week, July 11-15
HathiTrust Community Week is back! During the week of July 11, members of our wider community will come together virtually to share projects, research, and workshops related to HathiTrust with other members of the community. These sessions are geared towards people that have an interest in or responsibility for HathiTrust at their own institutions. Sessions may include member presentations and panel discussions, demonstrations and collaborative projects on topics such as shared print, collection development, accessibility, outreach, and metadata. A call for proposals is coming soon so start thinking . . . (For inspiration, check out the program from the inaugural 2020 Community Week!)
